Throughout my dynamic twenty-year career, my passion for all things stylish, whether it was fashion, art, design or even modern architecture, has remained constant. The challenge early on was to parlay them, with my natural penchant for creative writing, into a suitable forum.
Ultimately, I got there as Social Editor for a New York Times affiliate in Sarasota with five columns per week. After writing my first piece on an Escada fashion show at Es Ca Bay, a Sarasota estate, I knew I was hooked. After which, I began to cover New York’s Fashion Week for the paper as well as Style Magazine. I’m now solely style focused as Fashion Editor, style blogger and columnist of Fashion IQ, in partnership with Sarasota Magazine.
There was no clear path here, but while remaining true to my inspirational loves, I pursued a variety of practical employment in sales, marketing, promotion and business development. Experience that no doubt serves me well to this day.
Along the way, I truly enjoyed my successful roles as an assistant art gallery director then in advertising sales for a major cable TV company where I later climbed the ladder to become a top-producing commercial development exec. The chance came to use my knowledge of real estate to sell during the boom of the 2000’s, too great to pass up, where I achieved my target goal of becoming one of the top ten percent of agents in Sarasota.
During this period, I remained committed to my community through philanthropy, fundraising, pro bono work and volunteering. My past and current affiliations include, but are in no way limited to:
Sarasota Opera; Sarasota Ballet; New College of Florida; Ringling Museum of Art; Ringling School of Art and Design; United Cerebral Palsy; Florida Winefest and Auction; Girls, Inc.; Asolo Repertory Theatre; The United Way; University of South Florida; The Downtown Association; Committee for Economic Development; The American Jewish Committee; Breast Health Sarasota; Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County; Fine Arts Society; GWIZ Science Museum; Advertising Federation, WEDU and Selby Gardens.
Also, as a founding board member of Sarasota Architectural Foundation I was charged with developing a PBS quality documentary on the Sarasota School of Architecture. I’m proud to say not only did it win an Addy Award, it was shown at the Sarasota Film Festival and continues to be used for lecture materials.
This unique path described above has led me from a business, social and personal growth perspective to the incredibly interesting and more custom-designed niche that I have pursued for the past five years – journalism and social commentary on a variety of content. And, I L.O.V.E it. 💋
